Mongolia

This remote country, with friendly people and interesting historical and cultural sights, is a fascinating place to visit. The main difficulty is access. Ulan Bator, the capital city, can be reached a few days a week by air from Beijing, once a week by train from Beijing (travel time 2 days) or Moscow (travel time 5 days) and daily by local train from Irkutsk, Russia (travel time 2 days). Most travelers tend to fly or take the train one direction from Beijing returning by the other mode of transportation. Alternatively, a few days stopover in Mongolia is possible on the way from Beijing to Moscow by train.
